Montana Celebrates October as Economic Education Month
The State of Montana is proud to recognize October as Economics Education Month, underscoring the essential role that economic and financial literacy play in the lives of students, families, and communities. With a signed proclamation from Governor Greg Gianforte, this recognition elevates the importance of equipping Montanans with the tools they need to make informed decisions, strengthen local economies, and pursue opportunities for prosperity.
Economic education extends far beyond the classroom. It provides young people with the skills to evaluate choices, consider trade-offs, and plan for their future careers and financial security. By declaring October as Economics Education Month, the Governor has affirmed Montana’s commitment to preparing students for a changing world where critical thinking, financial capability, and economic reasoning are increasingly vital.
The Montana Council for Economic Education (MCEE) serves as a statewide partner in this mission, connecting educators with resources, training, and programs that bring economics and personal finance to life. From rural classrooms to urban schools, MCEE’s initiatives help teachers inspire students to think like economists, understand the role of markets, and make responsible financial decisions.
The proclamation signed by Governor Gianforte acknowledges the invaluable contributions of Montana’s educators, who work every day to integrate economics and personal finance into their classrooms. It also highlights the shared responsibility of families, businesses, and civic leaders in reinforcing these lessons and encouraging lifelong financial capability.
The Montana Council for Economic Education expresses its gratitude to Governor Gianforte for this recognition and to all the educators and supporters who make economics education possible. Together, this proclamation and the programs it uplifts stand as a reminder that investing in students’ understanding of economics is truly an investment in Montana’s future.
